## What OcuSera does

OcuSera is developing the No Spin PRP® System, a portable, single-use device for preparing platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from a patient's own blood.

## How the device works

No Spin PRP uses gravity-driven red-cell sedimentation to separate blood components without a centrifuge or an external power source. A premixed proprietary polymer solution promotes red-cell aggregation into rouleaux, and the syringe rests tip-up at about 30° so the Boycott effect shortens the settling path. An upper plasma layer forms and is transferred to a second syringe. Development studies will evaluate PRP composition, platelet function, and bone-graft handling.

## Founder

Justin Karlin, MD, MS, is OcuSera's founder and CEO. He is an oculofacial plastic surgeon, teacher, and researcher: an ABO board-certified ophthalmologist and ASOPRS-certified oculofacial plastic surgeon with more than 55 peer-reviewed publications. More: https://justinkarlin.com/about

## Frequently asked questions

**Are OcuSera and No Spin PRP the same?**
OcuSera, Inc. is the company. The No Spin PRP® System is the device it is developing.

**Is the No Spin PRP® System FDA cleared or approved?**
No. It is an investigational device in development and has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

**Can I buy the No Spin PRP® System?**
No. It is not available for sale, and OcuSera has no products on the market.

**Does the system use a centrifuge or electricity?**
No. Separation happens at normal gravity. A premixed proprietary polymer solution promotes red-cell aggregation, and the syringe rests tip-up at about 30° so the red cells settle while an upper plasma layer forms.

**What is the proposed use?**
Preparation of autologous platelet-rich plasma at the point of care for mixing with autograft and/or allograft bone before application to a bony defect, to improve handling characteristics.

**Is the PRP given to people in current studies?**
No. Current planned research is ex vivo: study PRP and graft are not administered to participants.

**How can I discuss research or development opportunities?**
Use the contact page to introduce your interest.
